Last year, we made significant enhancements to our products that enable our customers to easily build and grow their business on DigitalOcean. We’re committed to the continued support of our customers in their growth journey this year and to adding more capabilities that can help accelerate innovation and growth. Here’s a summary of key releases that rolled out in January.

Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)

Introducing Google Pay Support for DIgitalOcean

We are excited to announce that Google Pay is now available as a payment option on DigitalOcean! This update enables users all over the world to use Google Pay while creating a DigitalOcean account and for their recurring payments. Here’s a walkthrough video on how you can use Google Pay as a payment option for DigitalOcean.

New base image available in control panel and via API

Rocky Linux 8.5 x64 base image is now available in the control panel and via the API. You can take advantage of the latest features and capabilities in these versions when using this image for your app.

Faster resizing of load balancers

Last year, we introduced upgraded load balancers that allow you to scale your apps confidently. We’re excited to share that you can now resize load balancers once per minute, instead of once per hour allowing you to scale faster. The cost is prorated based on how long the load balancer operates at each size, with a minimum charge of $0.01 (see pricing page for most up-to-date details).

Platform as a Service (PaaS)

App Platform now supports rollback to previous deployments

You can undo a faulty deployment by rolling back the app to a previous deployment. This lets you recover from accidentally deploying code with errors or an app spec that causes failures. For apps on the Basic tier, you can roll back to the most recent successful deployment. For apps on the Professional tier, you can roll back to the ten most recent successful deployments. This feature is not available on the Starter plan.

Trusted sources for Managed MongoDB

You can build more secure apps by adding them as trusted sources for Managed Databases. We announced the support for trusted sources for our Redis, MySQL, and PostgreSQL Managed Databases last year. We’ve now enabled trusted sources for Managed MongoDB as well. With this release, all DigitalOcean databases now support App Platform apps as trusted sources, including MongoDB.

New marketplace apps

  • VictoriaMetrics Cluster: VictoriaMetrics Cluster is a free, open source time series database (TSDB) and monitoring solution, designed to collect, store and process real-time metrics.
  • authentik: authentik is an open-source Identity Provider focused on flexibility and versatility. You can use authentik in an existing environment to add support for new protocols, implement sign-up/recovery/etc. in your application so you don’t have to deal with it, and many other things.
  • ls-k8s-webadc: LiteSpeed WebADC in Kubernetes is a Load Balancer and Ingress controller. It uses the best of both Kubernetes and LiteSpeed to provide Load Balancing and backend support with high performance and outstanding features, including HTTP/3.
  • CyberPanel Joomla: OpenLiteSpeed is the Open Source edition of LiteSpeed Web Server Enterprise and contains all of the essential features, including HTTP/3 support. OLS provides enormous scalability and an accelerated hosting platform for Joomla.
