It’s almost the holiday season and the team at DigitalOcean has been working hard on new feature enhancements and product updates. This month, we’re excited to share a new generation of AMD Droplets, an increase to Spaces and Volumes Storage throughput limits, and the addition of periodic functions to Serverless. As you prepare for the holiday surge, consider implementing DigitalOcean Uptime to notify your team of any issues with your services. Finally, for a limited time, we’re offering two free months of DigitalOcean for those who qualify!

DigitalOcean Droplets (IaaS)

A new generation of DigitalOcean Premium AMD Droplets AMD EPYCTM processors

We’re excited to introduce the latest generation of AMD EPYCTM processors (code name Milan) for our Premium AMD Droplet plans. These Droplets are powered by 3rd Gen AMD EPYCTM processors, superfast PCIe Gen 4 storage, and high-speed 100 GbE networking to improve performance. Many new Droplets created in SFO3, SGP1, FRA1, and NYC1 data centers will run on 3rd gen AMD EPYCTM processors, and we will see more Droplets with these specifications as we continue with the deployment.

AlmaLinux OS now available on DigitalOcean Droplets

DigitalOcean Droplets now support AlmaLinux OS images. Alma Linux is an open-source, community-owned and governed, free enterprise Linux distribution that focuses on long-term stability. It provides a production-grade platform that is binary compatible with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and pre-Stream CentOS.

DigitalOcean Spaces (S3-compatible object storage)

Spaces Requests Per Second (RPS) is 100% faster

Spaces RPS has doubled to support the growing needs of small businesses. Now, enjoy up to 1500 requests per IP address per second to all Spaces on an account. Our limits page has more information as well as advice on concurrency and using the free Spaces CDN to increase performance.

DigitalOcean Volumes (Block Storage)

IOPS and Throughput have increased by 50%

To support the needs of SMBs on our platform, Volumes has become significantly more performant. Most importantly, IOPS and Throughput have increased significantly by ~50% to support rapid block storage operations. For more information, look at the limits of each Droplet type.

DigitalOcean Standard and Premium Support Plans

Free, Standard, and Premium support lifts up start-ups

At DigitalOcean we are committed to serving startups and SMBs no matter where they are on their journeys. That’s why we offer a choice between Free, Standard, and Premium support plans. Many startups have custom solutions for their specific use cases and may need extra help integrating those solutions with a cloud. The new Standard and Premium plans ensure a faster response while giving access to our experts through additional channels like video calls and dedicated agents. Also, startups now get access to architecture reviews, custom onboarding, help with trying out new products, and other customized assistance to allow teams to focus more on business goals and customer support.

DigitalOcean Functions is now more powerful with new updates

Scheduled functions now in Beta

DigitalOcean Functions now enables developers to schedule functions at a desired time via Cron expressions. Business applications often include tasks that are periodic or need to be scheduled at a particular time such as cleanup, data manipulation, timed emails etc. With just a few clicks and no infrastructure to manage, scheduled functions are the simplest way to run these on-demand functions on a schedule. Scheduled functions is now in Beta* and you can access it via the cloud console and doctl command line interface (CLI). Want to try out scheduled functions? Read this article to know more.

Long-running functions

We are increasing the maximum possible timeout for DigitalOcean Functions from 30 seconds to 15 mins. This timeout extension makes it easier for users to run batch processing or complex background tasks like video/image processing, ETL, report generation, etc. The new timeout can be set both via the Cloud console and the doctl CLI. Learn more about setting function timeouts on this docs page.

DigitalOcean Kubernetes at Kubecon NA 2022

This KubeCon, we announced our new operators that use Kubernetes automation and orchestration to manage DigitalOcean resources and a solution blueprint to manage egress traffic. You can still book an appointment with sales and may even qualify for two free months of DigitalOcean. The promotion is for a limited time so get in contact with our experts today.

DigitalOcean Marketplace

Add authentication and authorization in 1-Click

FusionAuth is an API-first Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) platform with support for OAuth2, OIDC, SAML v2, social login, federated login, MFA, full-text search, password policies, WebAuthn, and other passwordless options.
