I tested default WordPress user registration on two different sites, each on their own droplet. One droplet is 512mb and the other is 1gb.
Upon submitting new user information the form then takes 3-5 minutes to process and complete user registration.
Any help is appreciated.

When did you do the testing? And in what datacenter are your droplets? There was some router maintenance over the weekend.
Thanks for your help. The droplets are on sfo1. Testing happened last week and this morning.
Are you using Apache & MySQL? Individually, each of 'em use up quite a bit of server resources; together – especially on a 512MB droplet – they can really bog things down.

If so, you’ll get a lot better performance w/this setup: How To Install Wordpress, Nginx, PHP, and Varnish on Ubuntu 12.04.

The W3 Total Cache plugin will also give your sites a big boost.
