Question

500 error on GitLab droplet

On a fresh GitLab one-click install1 I had the problem of saving admin settings. POST requests to /admin/application_settings were rejected with a 500 error.

This seemed to be an incorrect gitlab-secrets.json because reseting that solved the problem, as described here: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/54216933/internal-server-error-500-while-accessing-gitlab-admin-runners

Hi,

I used the GitLab Enterprise Edition from DO marketplace but haven’t bought an EE key from GitLab.

What else could be of significance:

  • Initially I provisioned the droplet with only 2G of RAM.
  • Changed the hostname

Hi,

That’s interesting, I will try to recreate that.

Were you using the GitLab Enterprise Edition?

Regards, Bobby

@markusarro thanks for the note. Please drop into https://forum.gitlab.com/ and let the Gitlab team know about the issue. Gitlab maintains this app listing (https://marketplace.digitalocean.com/apps/gitlab-enterprise-edition) in the DigitalOcean Marketplace and should be able to provide some guidance on how to proceed.
