Adding Domain to my droplet

Posted on January 8, 2020

I wanted to add a domain to my droplet. I configured the DNS records as this: https://imgur.com/v5UoiiB

Also I configured the nameservers of digitalocean (ns1.digitalocean.com, ns2.digitalocean.com, …) in my domain provider.

I’m running a nginx Server on Ubuntu.

When I go to born2hex.at I get a “ERR_NAME_RESOLUTION_FAILED” Error in Chrome.

So my Question is what do I need to fix or configure properly to get this working correctly?

Hey, @eroglum01

I can confirm that the domain name is not resolving. However looking at the DNS you are using custom nameservers (glue records) and the DNS seems to be controlled from a third-party provider ipax.at (I can’t guarantee this at 100%). The DNS changes (updating the A record and etc) needs to be done from their control panel so they can take effect. Your other option is to switch the Nameservers to ours and the DNS should start propagating.

Hope this helps. Regards, Aex

Hello, @eroglum01

Keep in mind that the DNS changes might take up to 48 hours due to ISP cache. Usually the DNS will propagate a lot faster, but you still need to wait for at least an hour or so. In the meantime you can check the DNS propagation using a site like https://www.whatsmydns.net/

Let me know how it goes.
