I wanted to add a domain to my droplet. I configured the DNS records as this: https://imgur.com/v5UoiiB

Also I configured the nameservers of digitalocean (ns1.digitalocean.com, ns2.digitalocean.com, …) in my domain provider.

I’m running a nginx Server on Ubuntu.

When I go to born2hex.at I get a “ERRNAMERESOLUTION_FAILED” Error in Chrome.

So my Question is what do I need to fix or configure properly to get this working correctly?

Hello, @eroglum01

Keep in mind that the DNS changes might take up to 48 hours due to ISP cache. Usually the DNS will propagate a lot faster, but you still need to wait for at least an hour or so. In the meantime you can check the DNS propagation using a site like https://www.whatsmydns.net/

Let me know how it goes.

Hey, @eroglum01

I can confirm that the domain name is not resolving. However looking at the DNS you are using custom nameservers (glue records) and the DNS seems to be controlled from a third-party provider ipax.at (I can’t guarantee this at 100%). The DNS changes (updating the A record and etc) needs to be done from their control panel so they can take effect. Your other option is to switch the Nameservers to ours and the DNS should start propagating.

Hope this helps.

Aex

  • Hey @alexdo ,
I have changed the Nameservers to the Nameservers of DigitalOcean (ns1.digitalocean.com, ns2…) on the control panel of ipax.at . But still it doesn’t work. More than 3 days have already passed since I changed it.

    • Hello, @eroglum01

Could you please check the domain using this website and see if the nameservers have propagated: https://www.whatsmydns.net/

You need to enter your domain name and check for the NS type (using the dropdown menu).

Let me know how it goes.

      • Hello, @alexdo

I have checked the nameservers on the page, this is the result: https://imgur.com/a/hnqL2Rn

I don’t know why it still has the ipax nameservers configured because in the control panel of ipax I have changed it to the digtalocean nameservers.

        Muhammed

        • Hello, @eroglum01

You need to change the nameservers from the control panel of the domain registrar (the company that charge you for the domain name). If you’ve changed the nameservers from different control panel that will make sense why the DNS changes are not taking effect.

          Hope this helps.

          Alex
