Adding subdomains for the domain on the same droplet through the api v2 (ruby)

Posted on March 2, 2015

Looking through the documentation don’t see how this might be done. Can you please point me in the right direction. Regards Rosco

As @Woet mentioned, a sub-domain is simply another record type. Generally you’d want to use an A record to create a subdomain. The example below, creates the sub-domain www to the domain example.com by adding an A record pointing to an IP address:

require 'droplet_kit'
token='YOUR_DIGITALOCEAN_API_TOKEN'
client = DropletKit::Client.new(access_token: token)

record = DropletKit::DomainRecord.new(type: 'A', name: 'www', data: '162.10.66.0')
client.domain_records.create(record, for_domain: 'example.com')
