Allow 2 MySQL servers on the same Digital Ocean Private Network to communicate...securely.

I have 2 droplets running a LAMP + Python stack on Ubuntu 20.04 I would like 1 server to connect to the second (and future) to do a MySQL SELECT query via PHP.

Is there a way to do this securely considering both servers are on the same private network? If so, I’m hoping for pointers.

Thanks MUCHO!!!

DO’s VPC network is considered as a secure one as it is separated from a public network (the Internet) and the other VPC networks (including VPC networks created within the same user account), so your traffic should not be eavesdropped. However, if you are obliged to put an extra security on communication with a database (e.g. the regulator’s rules demand it), you could consider encrypted connection.
