I have deployed a mono-repo to app platform and it is running fine for weeks.

The initial deploy I did with a .do/app.yml file and doctl (similar to this).

Now I want to add a worker to my setup. I have added the worker as a folder in my mono repo and added it to .do/app.yml.

Now I am struggling to get app platform to add the worker. How would I do that? Through doctl again?

Found it:

doctl apps update <app id> --spec .do/app.yaml

ATTENTION: It will remove all your env variables that you added through the Web UI!!!

  • Updates using the App Spec will always reconfigure the app to the specified state. You can download an updated copy of the spec from the App’s Settings tab under the “App Spec”. This will include all of the environment variables. Save this, make your changes, and then apply the updates to retain those variables.
