Are Backups Broken?

I see it has been 15 days since I turned on automatic backups, however there still isn't one backup in the system. How often should I expected backups. Isn't a backup system that never backs anything up pretty worthless?

It's up to date with my systems. Maybe just toggle it again for laughs?

Thank you
I think I may be seeing this as well. I've never had an issue with auto backups, but I just noticed that the droplet I created a few days ago has yet to auto-backup. I'm going to try to disable/re-enable and see if that works.
From support-

We're currently processing a very large backlog with the backup services, which has severely delayed the backup process.

There is no ETA. It's been several days. This is a big deal.
I dont understand why they wont just announce that a service is down. Makes me sad that they are hiding behind the support system with this sort of information. In other words, we should not have to ask why something is broken that is a service on their side.
The good news is after 8 days I finally did have a successful automatic backup.
The bad news is I've lost confidence in the backup process. And since DO won't provide any type of notification if the service goes down again (for over a week!), I'll now need to constantly monitor it myself.
We've been working on a lot of development work in the past couple of months and we've fallen behind unfortunately on communicating with customers not only about our current roadmap and future development, but also on providing more visibility into how the existing features work.

Over the next coming weeks we'll be working on improving communication so that customers get more information about the events that are being processed, when they fail, and we are also looking into creating an engineering tab which will display all of our current and past development projects so that everyone can see what items we are working on and how priorities and ETAs are shifting in response to items as they come up.

And over 1 year later this is still an issue. My automatic backups work sometimes 2 times per month and sometimes once per 3 months. It's pretty much pointless to even consider that you can benefit from automatic backups.

Do yourself a favor and setup your own backup system.

Sorry, but I really was looking into using this feature (and having to re-create my server *uff) - but it's pointless if it's this unreliable. Pity.
