I have backups running on some of my droplets. I’m just wondering where does digital ocean store these backups? Is there any documentation you could point me to in this regard? I’m assuming the backups are saved outside the same VPS as the live site. Is this correct and what controls over the location of the backups do I have as admin of the droplet?
Thanks!

Backups and snapshots are initially stored on a NAS device in the same datacenter as the droplet. This is physically separate from the hypervisor that the droplet is running on. It is then encrypted and copied up to Amazon Glacier in order to be backed up off premise.
I wonder if anyone at DigitalOcean could confirm if snapshots are still stored with a copy at AWS Glacier. See Press release 2013
I wondered with release of DigitalOcean Spaces if the practice is still happening?
