Question

Can Droplets be cloned?

Can droplets be cloned? I currently build some WP sites where I keep a master site that I clone in a new cPanel for clients. Wondering if I can do the same thing with droplets.

Also, can droplets have dedicated IP addresses?

Lastly, I’m more a WordPress guy who wants to give Ghost a whirl. I have limited server experience (mostly command line stuff with Ubuntu a few years back). Is DO gonna be too complex for me? And what’s DO’s support like?

Hello,

Yes, you can always take a Snapshot of a Droplet and then create a new Droplet using that. The moment you create a new Droplet, you will be assigned a new Static IP address automatically. Refer to below link, which explains on how to create a new Snapshot and then use it for new Droplet:

https://www.digitalocean.com/docs/images/snapshots/how-to/change-owners/ https://www.digitalocean.com/docs/images/snapshots/how-to/snapshot-droplets/

As a self-managed provider, we aren’t able to access customer Droplets at the command line or application level. This means we can only work from information you give us about your server in regards to error logs, configuration files, or the output of commands.  We’re more than happy to help if you get stuck or have a question, however, so please don’t hesitate to ask.

Hope this helps!

Cheers, Sri Charan
