can I switch from monthly to hourly plan without destroing my droplet ?

There’s no difference between the monthly and the hourly “plan”. Every Droplet is billed hourly from your DigitalOcean credit. If you do not pay through PayPal, you’ll owe what you used till the end of the month (when DigitalOcean will effectively take the money from your credit card).
If you use, let’s say, the 5$/month plan, which is 0.007$/hour, assuming there are 24 * 30 = 720h in each month, you’ll have to pay 5.00$ instead of 0.007 * 720 = 5.04$ if you use your server for the entire month. That’s the only benefit of using the Droplet during 30 continuous days.

But if droplet on hourly plan is powered off it doesn’t consume money, isn’t it ?
Suppose that I need a powered UNIX machine only on Fridays.
Aprox 4.5 Fridays in 1 month consume 0.007244.5 = $0.756 per month.
Or I have any misunderstud ?
Err, no, @elcom64.
You’ll have to pay for your Droplet even if it’s powered off - because resources like the disk space, CPU and RAM are reserved to you.

@elcom64 Yes, it still uses your account balance. DigitalOcean states: Note that when you power off your droplet you are still billed for it. This is because your disk space, CPU, RAM, and IP address are all reserved while it is powered off.
The only thing you could do is at the end of every Friday, create a snapshot of your droplet, and then destroy it, and at the beginning of every Friday create your droplet again from the snapshot, and repeat the process every week. If that makes sense. It can be a lot of work manually, but there isn’t really another option.
