Can I use RDP to access Windows 7 in a VirtualBox VM in a Ubuntu 12.10 64 VPS?

Posted on March 4, 2013

Ubuntu support forums state that VirtualBox supports RDP and that the Windows instance can be directly accessed when running under Ubuntu 12.10 on port 3389. Is this possible on a Digital Ocean VPS? If not, what is the alternative? I need to be able to access the Windows GUI of a virtual machine. Could not find anything about this searching the forums and support articles.

Hello, all

It is possible to run Windows 7 using Virtualbox but the droplet will require a lot of resources in order to have solid performance. A lot of installation articles recommend at least 1GB of RAM, but in my opinion, this will not be sufficient and you will most probably need double the RAM.

Regards, Alex

Were you able to get Windows running on VirtualBox?
