Can someone elaborate on the meaning of "Transfer" in the pricing tables?

I’d like to build a Wordpress site and integrate a Discourse community with the WP site. I’ll be using an LMS plugin with the WP site but all of the video content that is consumed in the courses will be hosted on YouTube and embedded through each course. When people are watching these videos, does this count against that Transfer cap that is outlined in the pricing table?

Could someone elaborate on the meaning of “Transfer” in this case and outline what is/isn’t included in that limit, for each plan?

Hello friend!

Great question. So transfer is going to refer to the outbound data transferred from your droplet. So for example if your website is 5MB and I load it, you should have just added 5MB to your transfer usage as it was sent outbound to me (browser cache plays a reduction role here if you’re doing the math). If you embed YouTube videos on your site, the outbound transfer for that will come from YouTube and not your server.

Hope that makes sense. Happy to answer any questions!

Kind Regards, Jarland
