I made a droplet today and then I go to log on to it with putty and i enter in root and the password emailed to me. It asks me to put in a new password which I do and then when I hit enter the window just closes out.

Read the prompt, it asks for your current password first.

I just created a Centos droplet. The black window asks for login to which I say root, then I give the long password from the email, which it accepts and says I must change password, and it asks for current UNIX password, so I enter the long password from the email again, which seems to be accepted but the screen goes back to: asking for login again!
HELP
UPDATE: it works fine thru Putty. The problem described above is when using the web-based console thru Chrome: “DigitalOcean Droplet Console”.
you have to type old (provided by digitalocean) password first. Then it will ask you to type new password and repeat it.
you same with me… have solved it ?
