I am using ProxyPass on one of my servers
It was working ok last night, but now it is throwing "HTTP: failed to make connection to backend: ", and I am getting a 503 error in my browser
I am guessing there is some kind of firewall or something to prevent DDoS? Is there a way I can whitelist my server to stop this?

I would recommend first checking if everything is OK with your Backend service. It is more likely than not that the backend service crashed and that is why you are getting the 503 error.
