Can't type '<' in command to import database instead it revert to '>' sign

Where are you typing it?
I'm typing in console in digital ocean, so when I type '<' sign it replaced to '>'
May there is another way to import database instead of this command
mysqldump -u [username] -p [database name] < [database name].sql
