Can't type in the kernel

December 30, 2016 178 views
Linux Basics Ubuntu 16.04

Every time I enter the kernel I can't type anything. Some keys on my keyboard do nothing and others type strange characters.

below is what some characters return.
a gives ^A
k gives ^K
l gives ^L
'enter' is still enter
2 gives ^@

Does anyone have any idea what is going on?

I'm not 100% sure what you mean by enter the kernel. If you're trying to actually modify the kernel, the Droplets provided by DigitalOcean do not allow for it (currently). The kernel that is deployed is the kernel that your Droplet must use.

If you're having issues elsewhere, please clarify and I'll be more than happy to help!
