Question

Cannot open port

Posted March 10, 2014 10.1k views
I have a program I would like to listen on port 49271, however I cannot get that port open. I have tried this with both Ubuntu and Debian. I have used iptables and ufw and both say that this port is open upon reboot. However I cannot access this port from a remote connection. Is there something else blocking the ports like security groups in AWS? I have no problem opening ports on AWS.

I believe you should look this answer here:

In order to connect you'll need to have a service listening on that port. First check the output of this command to see if the port is listening:
sudo netstat -ntulp
