At the moment I’m using Cloudfront for my site as it has support for adding an origin that can be cached, is there any way to setup something similar on DO as would really like to be able to move away from AWS.

Hey friend,
Great question! While we have a CDN caching feature for our Spaces (object storage), we don’t quite have a pure CDN feature that would act as a replacement for Cloudfront. You never know what’s next though, keep watching and keep letting us know what you want to see :)

How is CDN different from caching? Caching is the mechanism of storing static content (after the first request for the resource is served to the end user) in a location for serving future requests for the same resource. It is an in-built HTTP feature. Quote Source
