[CentOS7] Setting up subdomain

Posted on September 24, 2019

Need help with setting up a subdomain on CentOS7.

Using namecheap for the domain registrar; I set up an A registry for sub.domain.com

I can’t figure out how to get it to point to a directory on my digitalocean droplet.

Do I just do it like a normal virtual host? I attempted that and it failed.

Hi @ElmerG,

You were on the right path, yes you would need to configure your subdomain as a normal virtual host for a separate domain. Depending on the Web Server you use, you’ll need to configure it differently. I can confirm this is related to your Apache/Nginx rather than the OS version.

If you are having trouble, post you Web Server and virtual host you tried to create to see what might be the problem.

Kind regards, Kalin
