Certificate error while pull from private git repo

Posted on September 17, 2014

Hello

I can pull from github but when I try to do it from a private remote repository (to which I have a user and pass) I get an error message: ‘server certificate verification failed…’ instead of prompt for credentials.

Do I need to change git settings and if so how?

Many thanks Tomasz

Github’s private repository take this form for clone URL:

git@github.com:username/repo.git

that is because the form of git://github.com/username/repo.git is read-only and not allowed by private access.

You should check which one you use to clone.
