certificate: /etc/nginx/ssl/todos.pem

Posted January 4, 2015 2.7k views

I am following along in your article regarding how to setup Meteor on Ubuntu on Digital Ocean. I created a certificate and when I login to my site I get a successful message from Nginx stating all is well. My question is I do not understand how or what to enter into the certificate: /etc/nginx/ssl/todos.pem file. I assume it is the certificate information but where do I find it?

Thank you

You can either create a self-signed certificate following this tutorial:

Or purchase on from a proper Certificate Authority. For more information on how to do that, see:

TLS and SSL are protocols that allow you to send encrypted information between a web server and a client's browser. In this guide, we will demonstrate how to create an SSL certificate for Nginx on an Ubuntu 14.04 server.
