You can check the current disk usage by running the df command. By default, the sizes are listed in Kilobytes, so you may pass the -h option to it to get “human-readable” output.
How you insert the data into a database and then retrieve it depends on what kind of database and/or programs you’re using. Is there anything specific that you are looking for or any tools that you would like to use?
