Question

Connect to PostgreSQL through Intellij IDE / dbeaver

I’ve just created a blank django project and a db in Digital ocean. I want to connect to my IDE (IntelliJ) where I have a running version of my app now, and I want to migrate the db to the application on Digital Ocean by connecting remotely from my computer. I’m getting

django.db.utils.OperationalError: could not connect to server: Connection refused (0x0000274D/10061) Is the server running on host “db-postgresql-nyc3-62876-do-user-10535591-0.b.db.ondigitalocean.com” (161.35.176.63) and accepting TCP/IP connections on port 25061?

I have my computers’ IP in the accepted list of the Postgres server. I cannot connect with my IDE, PGadmin or DBeaver – all give exactly the same message. I’m behind a corporate firewall, but my proxy is configured correctly.

I’d really like to get over the hump on this connection issue so I can start actively developing, but I’m stuck. What’s the simplest way to get this working correctly?

Hello,

I could suggest a few things:

  • Make sure that your actual public IP address is allowed, you can check it here:

https://ifconfig.io/

  • Also make sure that you needed are able to access external services on port 25061 and that your corporate firewall is not blocking the connections. You can do that by visiting this link here for example:

http://portquiz.net:25061/

Let me know how it goes. Best, Bobby
