Connecting phpMyAdmin through Putty?

Posted March 23, 2016 5.1k views

Hello, I’m new to cloud hosting and I have managed to enable phpmyadmin but when I run the command “sudo tasksel” to open through putty, it runs fine, asks me to select “LAMP server” which I do, I then get to the point to enter MySQL Password, but then it keeps going back to the defaults black root screen in putty?

Can anyone help so I can get access to phpmyadmin again or is there another way to do this?

  • if i recall, phpmyadmin is a web-based interface, so I suspect here that when you had reinstalled the “LAMP Server” stack, it may have overwritten your Apache configuration file - I believe it is under /etc/apache2/ or something similar for Ubuntu.

If the Apache configuration file has been overwritten, then the only way to get it back is via a backup. Or, possibly a re-installation of phpmyadmin.

What Ive done is just deleted the server and started again with a new IP as I had nothing on the server, and at this point just playing with it! I’m finding it a lot harder than managing Linux WHM root of which I’m used to!

But thanks anyway :)
