Connecting to EC2 Instance?

Posted on April 13, 2020

Very new to AWS/Cloud computing, so bear please with me here. I’ve launched an EC2 instance in the AWS management console, and I’m trying to connect to the instance via the “terminal” app on my Mac. I tried chmod 400 “my key pair”. pem command but keep receiving No such file or directory as a response. Curious to find out what I’m doing wrong in making my key publicly viewable.

Hello,

You can make sure that you’re giving the full path to the ssh-key file or navigating to the .ssh directory when executing the chmod command.

The keys are usually in the ~/.ssh directory but you can double-check the path and then execute chmod 400 /full/path
