Create a subdomain and change it's document root to some other folder in Nginx

Posted on May 9, 2014

How do I create a subdomain and point it to a different folder in nginx?

Like we could do it in cPanel (we added a new subdomain and set it’s document root to a directory)

You just need to add another server block in your nginx config file. See the example here: http://wiki.nginx.org/ServerBlockExample

You’ll also need to add a CNAME to your DNS records to point the subdomain to the right place.
