Create custom dashboard using HTML and CSS

I want to build a dashboard to report on KPI’s of cloud infrastructure (servers, stats, disk space, key events, etc). My tools would be HTML and css. I use bash or PS to pull those stats from servers (Think of disk space for example or directory changes after comparing two directories). Can I build it just with those two languages (HTML/CSS) or do I need another language like python to update stats from various text files (scripts pull data from servers every hour) to present or update the dashboard?

I don’t really want to use existing frameworks like Grafana, etc. Would prefer to create from scratch so I can better customize to what I want to show/present. Would appreciate your insight on this. Seems like overall searches for simplifying a decent looking dashboard requires more then 4 languages. Not sure why this is so difficult.

Thank you KFSys! I appreciate your insight. What would be the easiest or the least difficult to learn in the Java family that would do that job?

Hi @earch,

HTML and CSS are just for visualization and style. You need something to constantly pull the information you have in your files and POST it on the Dashboard. This means you’ll need to use JavaScript for sure, no matter the variation of it like jquery and other similar ones.

Additionally, yes, you can use BASH to create the information you need to show on the Dashboard but BASH has a really hard time manipulating information. Maybe Python will be a better option or even PHP.

Hope this helps!
