Creating droplet with zpanel

  • Posted October 20, 2014

How and I set up a droplet with any good Open Source control panel?

I joined DigitalOcean thinking there was a large choice of basic installations, but haven’t found where to do that.

I am expecting to first have an installation with Zpanel, then add my domains. Right now I am a little lost, everything has new names “droplets” etc, it all looks promising. The idea of creating temporary experimental spaces to test various panels is exciting. Are there instructions somewhere where to start installing panels. Right now it doesn’t look like a VPS server.

A VPS is just a linux box, it does not carry with it a requirement to have a control panel installed on it. Most typically, these types of servers are managed with a ssh client (such as PuTTY). Digital Ocean doesn’t have any pre-built images that have control panels on them. You can investigate how to install Z-Panel at their website (

Please be advised that all control panels (especially zpanel) carry with it security risks and can potentially be tedious to manage and mitigate outside of a managed environment.

Digital Ocean does not sell managed VPSes, all of these services you will need to install & configure yourself.
