Custom permalinks not working in wordpress

I was running a WordPress installation on a droplet, however, I migrated the same to another droplet in different region.

Now, everything works fine, but I can not get the custom permalinks to work. I have tried almost every way available on the internet and nothing seems to be working fine.

Have anyone else encountered the same issue? Kindly help.

  • Hi!

    Have you migrated the .htaccess file in the root directory of your Wordpress website as well? It is needed for custom permalinks to work.

    Do you get any errors when you try to enable permalinks?

The default LAMP image may not have mod_rewrite enabled by default and it’s necessary for the permalinks to function properly. You can enable it by doing:

sudo a2enmod rewrite;
sudo service apache2 restart;

Also make sure that your .htaccess files have the correct permissions.
