I would like to run a mail server on DigitalOcean. I’ve been with Linode for the past year, and what they have in their DNS offering is a neat simple option to create a MX record (for example, mail.example.com) and delegate it to the actual hostname where mail server resides (in my case to stephania.mydomain.com).
Is there a way to do the same thing with DigitalOcean’s DNS service?

I do not mess with dns much any more but I think you specify mail as an A record pointing to the IP address of your DO server. And then you you have to set a MX record for mail.example.com like simular to how you set up the A record… Since you said DO will be your mailserver, you won’t use the dns system here. But instead you’ll use whoever is hosting dns for for main domain name.

Hopefully that makes sense… It’s been awhile since I’ve used external mail servers.
