/dev/eth0 has NO-CARRIER on droplet

Networking Ubuntu

root@myserver:~# ip addr
2: eth0: <NO-CARRIER,BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP> mtu 1500 qdisc pfifo_fast state DOWN

This looks like the parent hypervisor on my droplet has my eth0 interface disconnected.

I cannot ping my gateway from my droplet. I cannot ping anything in my droplet's subnet.

I can ping my droplet's gateway from my home PC, so the gateway is up.

How do I get my NO-CARRIER flag to go away and regain network connectivity?

  • This is in SFO1, which had a hypervisor update on Tuesday.

  • Same problem here. Droplet works correctly but one day it lost network. Do you have found solution?
