Digital Ocean Database Trusted Sources: IPv6 support

We discovered that DO doesn’t support IPv6 in trusted sources. We tried our IPv4 but the DO database was still refusing our connection.

We needed to get into the DB during a live event so my only option was to remove all trusted sources and temporarily open the database to all connections to quickly diagnose an issue.

However, removing all trusted sources killed our Digital Ocean app that was linked to the database as a trusted source and all of our users couldn’t login. (We can debate whether this is something I should have anticipated instead of assuming allowing all connections wouldn’t have killed our DO app)

So my question is, when is IPv6 support coming? And do you have any idea on why my IPv4 didn’t work?

Hey @nickWalrus,

The best thing to do to get your voice heard regarding this would be to head over to our Product Ideas board and post a new idea, including as much information as possible for what you’d like to see implemented.

What you could do in the meantime, as a workaround, is to spin up a small test Droplet, add its IP address to the trusted sources list, then connect to the Droplet via SSH and through there connect to your Managed Database cluster.
