Directing a subdomain to another droplet

I have two droplets, one on DigitalOcean and the other on some other service,

The first one connected to the domain and connected to the website on the other service (IP

I want to create a subdomainain named and connect it to the DigitalOcean droplet.

So I tried creating an on DigitalOcean (after connecting the nameservers on GoDaddy), works fine for some devices, but it’s been a week and when I check the subdomain on websites like, it seems like some DNS servers can’t identify the DigitalOcean droplet.

Someone suggested a CNAME, but it’s not working well at all.

Best, Aviv.

Hi there @aviv1,

What you need to do is to add A record for your subdomain name to point to the new DigitalOcean Droplet IP.

There should be no need to add NS records for the subdomain name. If your main domain name is using GoDaddy’s nameservers, then this means that you need to add the A record for your subdomain name via your GoDaddy’s DNS zone manager. If you are using the DigitalOcean nameservers, then you could add the A record for your subdomain via your DigitalOcean DNS zone manager.

You would use a CNAME if you wanted to point your subdomain to another domain. When pointing to an IP address you should use an A record.

Let me know if you have any questions. Regards, Bobby
