Disable automatic certificates renew from DigitalOcean Load Balancer

DigitalOceanLoad BalancingLet's Encrypt

A few months ago I was testing DigitalOcean’s load balancers and activated Let'sEncrypt certificates for some domains. Subsequently I cancelled this service, but the certificates are still renewed automatically by DigitalOcean.

I need to deactivate this option, but I don’t find in the control panel any option on how to do it.

Thank you!

Hey! You cannot delete SSL certificates that are still in use in Load Balancer. Firstly, you have to edit or remove the forwarding rule so that it no longer uses the certificate. You can then delete the certificate under security tab via cloud panel. Here is documentation link which will help you in removing the SSL certificate from Load Balancer:

  • I have a similar problem. I do not have any load balancers but I receive email notifications of an SSL renewal for certificates I am not using.

I am currently able to resolve this from the main “Settings” page, then “Certificates for Load Balancers and Spaces”.

    • Hey,

If you had generated those certificates for Spaces or Load Balancer earlier then deleted the Spaces/LB associated with it. There are chances those certificates getting renewed and not listing in your cloud panel. This looks like a bug and would request you to contact support so that they can look into it.

Please note the Let’s Encrypt certificate is free so there is no need to worry in terms of getting charged. However, it’s good to bring to attention to our support team so that they stop such certificates from renewing and sending a notification to users.
