dns, domain name point to github pages and subdomain to droplet not working

October 10, 2013 2.4k views
I have added two A records via the control panel. domain = umlg.org A @ (github pages ip) A demo.umlg.org (droplet) I have waited more than 24 hours but demo.umlg.org domain is not working. Can not ping it or do a nslookup on it. Is something wrong with how I have set up the 2 domains? Thanks Pieter

Hi Pieter,

have a look at this: http://demo.umlg.org.umlg.org

simply set your subdomain's DNS record to
A demo

Assuming you're using DigitalOcean's DNS Manager, demo.umlg.org can work as well; so long as you add a dot at the end, i.e. demo.umlg.org.. See How To Set Up a Host Name with DigitalOcean.

By only specifying demo, DigitalOcean's DNS Manager appends .umlg.org. automatically.

This article walks you through setting up the DNS for your site. The tutorial includes steps to set up an A records, point your nameservers, and provides some information about MX records.

Yes I am using DigitalOcean's DNS Manager. I specified just demo now and all is well.
Thanks for the support.
