DNS not Updating for IOS

Hi DigitalOcean Community,

I have recently switched my website from HostGator to DigitalOcean and I have enjoyed the increased functionalities and capacities of the new host.

Unfortunately, I have updated my DNS settings (ie. setting Type A for www. and @ to redirect to my floating ip address) over a week ago. At this point, it seems that the DNS’ are all now working for on desktop and android devices. Strangely enough, they do not seem to be working on IOS devices. This is not an issue with resetting caches, as I have made all the necessary steps to fully refresh them. Similarly, on other IOS devices that have never viewed the site before (ie. no stored caches), the pages still don’t seem to load.

I know that GoDaddy domains take a long time to update (which is the reason I am looking to change soon), but after calling them they said that everything looked updated on their end. Is there perhaps some step that I must take to update the DNS’ for IOS devices? This seems pretty strange after nearly two weeks.

I really hope to hear back from you - and I appreciate any help.

PS The website has been functional on IOS devices with other domains.

Hey Bobbay - thanks for the reply.

For reference, the URL is

It seems all fine. Any ideas here?

All lead to IP (my floating IP). Except, ironically, LA California where I was when I set this up. I am no longer in LA though…

I hope to here back soon.

Thanks again,

Technically speaking, the type of the device does not really matter in terms of DNS as all each device does is to simply query the DNS servers. It usually can take between 1 and 72 hours for the DNS cache to clear over the Globe.

What you could try is checking your A record via this website in order to see the approximate DNS propagation:

Note that you should only be seeing your new Droplet’s IP address as your A record.
