Do I have to use DigitalOcean's DNS?

As the title asks. If so, how do I get a subdomain to properly route to an external IP? Currently it directs to my own site, which I don’t want.

you can use your registar or any other nameservers, just point the domain/subdomains to ip of your droplet…

and wait atleast 24 hours for it to propagate
