I am new to setting up a Linux Web Server and am following the guide called:
How To Set Up a Host Name with DigitalOcean
I am good on with all the steps until I get to “Step Three—Configure your Domain”.
I have added the A records and can get to my domain by just typing in “http://example.com”. Of course, I subsitute example with my domain name, etc…
My problem starts when I get to the AAAA records. I know almost nothing about IPv6. Do I even need to mess with it? How do I get the IPV6 address of my VPS ? I have tried typing into the console “ip -6 addr showip -6 addr show” but the data I get back confuses me and I am not sure which is the ipv6 address.
I think I am good with the CNAME and MX records, but I haven’t tried to configure them yet.

In DO console/control panel go to your droplet, and then settings, if your droplet has IPv6 you will see a main IPv6 address below the IPv4 one. you can use that one with the AAAA record which works the same an A record does, also you will see your range of additional IPv6 addresses ie:
2xxx:xxxx:xxx:xx::xxx:4000 - 2xxx:xxxx:xxx:xx::xxx:400f
Ok thanks! :) Well, At least I know how to find it now. I am going to do some research now on IPv6 and find out if I need or what.
