I just started my first Droplet, and can't get access to it. I was e-mailed a root password. I tried:
* Using this password to login using my own SSH client.
* Using this password to login on the console on the website.
* Resetting the password and using the new one in both of the above cases.
Nothing has worked. Both passwords failed to log me in, with access denied. The only thing I can think here is you're sending the wrong passwords. Could someone look into this? I'm going to try the SSH key instead now, but this is rather annoying.
I need to lock/chroot/limit a FTP user to a specific folder
My droplet is Ubuntu
I installed vsftpd
I've created a new user using:
sudo usermod -d /home/USERNAME USERNAME
I've binded the html folder to the new user folder
mount --bind /var/www/html /home/USERNAME/www/html
I've edited the vsftpd.conf file and modified the following:
I saved the file
restarted the vsftpd using:
service vsftpd restart
when I connect from my pc using filezilla I'm still able to navigate through all the servers folder
Hello, I'm an intermediate linux user, but a beginner in server management. I created a droplet, configured a SSH connection, apache and everything else. Now I need to put my local files (HTML, imagens and stuff) into the VPS I just configured. How should I do that? What's the best way to do this safely? I'm using Ubuntu 14.04 on my VPS and Windows 10 on my local PC.
