Does changing kernel make a data loss?

I want to upgrade my droplet which is Ubuntu 12.04 to 13.04, but I don't know it make my data lose or not. If someone got idea or have tried changing kernel, please share your experiences. Thx

I found something similar:

Pablo of said it will lose all datas.
Changing the kernel won't delete your data.

You can upgrade your droplet from the inside and your data will be intact but if you decide to downgrade or just rebuild the droplet from anther image, you will lose all of your data.

You can upgrade your droplet to the latest Ubuntu version by running

If that command isn't found, you will need to install the update-manager-core package:
sudo apt-get install update-manager-core

I recommend taking a backup of your data anyway just in case.
