What is the reason for this report?

Does creating a ZFS volume use ram cycles from the droplet that it's attached to?

I’m planning on using a FreeBSD droplet for the ZFS block storage.

Great question. To the host your disk is merely a block device, any requirements of the file system will be handled inside of the droplet. This to basically say yes, it would work the way that you are expecting.
