Domain only working without "WWW"

Hi guys.

So I just add a new project and purched a new droplet, with a new version of Ubuntu (20.04).

I have installed the Hestia Control Panel, becouse I couldn’t install Vesta.

I tried to transfer my website from Vesta (installed on a Ubuntu 14.0) to Hestia (Ubuntu 20.04).

The problem is that now my website only works withou “www”.

When a try to acess with “www” shows me a page like:

Your new web server is ready to use.”

I have transfered the domain from one droplet to another and adjusted the DNS records as I always do on Vesta and on DigitalOcean DNS, with the CNAME and that kind of thing.

The interface of Hestia is a little bit different, but I dont know what i have done wrong.

Hi there,

I have just checked your DNS settings and they seem correct for both the www version and the non-www version.

However I’ve noticed that you currently have a 301 redirect for HTTP to HTTPS, but you do not have a valid SSL certificate installed. This is why you might get a connection refused or an SSL error when visiting your website via your browser.

What I would suggest is to install a free Let’s Encrypt SSL certificate so that you could be able to visit your website via HTTPS as well.

Let me know how it goes!

Hi @igor_juliao,

First, I see there are two www records, one is an A record and the other a CNAME record, I’ll recommend removing one.

Additionally, there is a root CNAME record:

** * CNAME 1800

Having a root CNAME record for your domain results in pretty inconsistent DNS issues so I’ll suggest removing that one as well.

Once you do, I’ll recommend checking the Configuration file on your Hestia Control Panel, does it include the www.domain or not?

Additionally, I can see you’ve posted one IP but at the moment your Domain loads from another.

One other thing I noticed is that you have an HTTP to HTTPS redirection on your website which comes as not secured. You might want to install Let’s Encrypt or any other SSL on your website.
