Question

Domain 'xxx': name already exists.

DNS

I can’t add a domain to my droplet. There is a popup saying: “Domain ‘xxx’: name already exists.”
Indeed I’ve used to have that domain assigned to another droplet, but that was 2 years ago, and that droplet does not exist any more (I was not using it and it was dropped automatically).

How I can fix that issue ?

The only explainable part to that error is, somehow, someway, that domain exists.

Kindly double check your Networking -> Domains tab

It’s kinda unfortunate and weird DO dashboard doesn’t have a way to search through the domains, but the domain you seek to add is likely in there somewhere.

Hello there,

The system performs a DNS lookup to see if the domain has already been added to DigitalOcean. If it has, you’ll receive a message that says that the domain example.com: Name already exists. If the domain has not been previously added to DigitalOcean’s DNS service, it will be added.
