Droplet name change

Posted May 21, 2020 493 views

Hi I am running Plesk with 3 domains under it all of them require email and so my emails don’t end up in spam I’d need to setup a PTR record how would I go about doing this I found out that if you change the name of the droplet it creates a PTR record but that would only be for one domain How would I go about doing this also if I change the name of the droplet does that change the hostname on it also?

Hello, @wantsomebananas

A similar question was asked before in the community. I will link the original question so you can check it -

DigitalOcean automatically configures the reverse dns entry (PTR) on their end. It will be the hostname you choose when you set up your dropplet. You can change/check this in the control panel by selecting your dropplet, then settings, then rename. As it says, changing the name there will update the PTR but not the hostname of the system, that is something you will need to do, instructions for that vary depending on the system you have installed.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions.
