emacs META key problem macosx ... anyone else experiencing this?

Hi, Meta key (alt option in mac osx keyboard - 10.8) does not work correctly. It works for META -> but not META e for example.... I read that I may need to remap the meta key? Has anyone else knows a way around?

If anyone is interested, I found two webpages with some info how to resolve this problem. I haven't had a chance to try it yet, but whenever I do, I will let you know.

THere are different alternatives. The easiest one is to turn option key as meta in the preferences of the mac os x terminal. You do loose the ability for special characters...
There other more fancy alternatives.
