A carefully tailored SPF record will reduce the likelihood of your domain name getting fraudulently spoofed and keep your messages from getting flagged as spam before they reach your recipients.
Test your mailing system with www.mail-tester.com

Also check if your droplet's IP has been blacklisted -> http://whatismyipaddress.com/blacklist-check

I suggest you use a 3rd party email service like Mailgun.com they offer 10K emails/month free.
how to configure mailgun?
@camoatech: You don't set up mailgun on a droplet. You configure your app to send mail using mailgun, see http://documentation.mailgun.com/

It is worth also running the dig command to check for problems:

dig google.com txt
