Error establishing database connection (WordPress) after updating php

I update php from 7.0 to 7.4, after the update every hour or so, wp sites go down due to “Error establishing database connection”, and connect back after doing a power cycle. It was working fine before the update. Any suggestions on what to look at to try to figure out this issue. The server is running NGINX. Also I thought it was the theme giving me a memory crash, like you can see in the logs. but I change the theme as a troubleshoot step, but still getting the error. I try to autocorrect wp-db, and it says there is no error.
