I keep getting this error at random times on my hosting machine.
The full MySQL error message was : DBI connect failed : Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (111)
I am hosting on a 2 GB centos droplet that is running virtualmin. It is using mysql database and works well but randomly crashes.

I believe that your droplet might be running low on memory and that’s why your MySQL service gets killed.
I would recommend to try and add a little bit of extra RAM and see how it performs.
